Time & Location

07 Aug 2024, 19:00 – 21:30

Edinburgh, 58 Ratcliffe Terrace, Edinburgh EH9 1ST, UK

About the event

Some short films, poems and some conversation about the consequences of developing the most inhumane and indiscriminate means of destruction the world had ever seen, what they have done to us,  and how the people and the planet could be saved from annihilation.

Light refreshments and a chance to talk together. The screenings will include A Guided Tour of the Unacceptable, the history and geography tale of the UK’s nuclear weapons on the Clyde, and Scotland’s Resistance to them. We will also show Life in the Faslane and other iterations of the Peace Camp action and reaction.  There will be poems from the late Gerry Loose and others, an examination of what nuclear testing has done around the world,  and what some of Scotland’s foremost musicians make of ithe warmongering world we inhabit. Oppenheimer's Legacy is offered jointly by Secure Scotland and  Peace and Justice . We can promise that this will not be a campaign action meeting with a demanding agenda, nor a reflective and silent vigil, but with your help may have some of the best elements of both. We offer a chance to come together at this challenging time for the peace movement.
